Vincent tends to brood and isolate more than he spends his time with others. Although, as indicated in Advent Children and On the Way to a Smile "Episode: Nanaki", Vincent is someone who keeps watch of others. In Advent Children, he is seen rescuing Cloud, Tseng, and Elena without an invitation to where these characters are in the film. In Episode Nanaki Vincent intervenes Nanaki during another situation in which Vincent wasn't necessarily extended an invitation to. "Defeat Sephiroth... Defeat the son of that beloved woman... Am I on the verge of committing another sin...? Or am I atoning as best I can for only watching...?" โVincent Valentine, FFVII. I see Vincent as a character who keeps a record of Gaia's (the world of FFVII) events, a historian. In FFVII we see the transformations as "limit breaks," which ultimately help the party combat enemies they come across in their journey. It appears Vincent goes through a great deal of effort to keep the beasts tamed as evidenced through some of the gameplay in Dirge of Cerberus as well as in the movie Advent Children. In the film, we don't see him transform even with facing powerful enemies (boss battle!). I also believe Vincent maintains his control over the beasts by picking his battles carefully. Opening old wounds from the past can and will leave him vulnerable and more susceptible to transformation.

Vincent is conflicted with the idea Hojo has given him something uniquely coveted: immortality (this is proven untrue further down the storyline, but remains unknown to Vincent at his current timeline). On one hand, Hojo is responsible for so much destruction, and on the other hand, Hojo is also responsible for arming Vincent with the power he needs to seek retribution.

Transformation
Canon: Vincent can transform into beasts and he can use his cape as a form of fast travel as well as transportation. He cannot transform into anything he wants to and when he does he doesn't have control over himself. Additionally, I think it's appropriate to set limitations for what he can carry while in his cape form. In the Advent Children film we see Vincent's red cloak (video) intervene a fight where it's shown to protect Cloud while guarding off bullets and somewhere beneath the fabric Vincent was able to shoot out from the cloak. Vincent whisps Cloud away to safety with neither Cloud nor Vincent's physical body being seen.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Vincent is six feet tall, has crimson eyes he inherited from his father and has long black hair that reaches just past mid-back. Vincent's skin is a pale white almost like paraffin wax, he wears three predominant colors of red, black, and gold. He wears a gold gauntlet over his left arm and on his right arm is a pink ribbon. Additionally, Vincent has alternative forms "limit breaks"โwhich you can read more about on this website. Coming in from DoC timeline, Galian Beast and Chaos will look like their updated models. Vincent's cloak can be viewed as an organic material that Vincent can use to travel around in as well as pick others up and travel with. In this instance, I write this experience out as if he and whoever else will be absorbed by the cloak and exist on another "realm" while he's in this travel form. It's not like they're going to Narnia, just a blink of dark space.

DEMEANOR: Vincent is generally quiet, doesn't speak much, nor makes much noise as he moves. He enjoys sitting in solitude, however, he also is one to stalk others. He may be hiding while watching others, following them, not likely to intervene unless it's a life or death situation (and even then it depends on the circumstances). He's not the typical "do-gooder", rather he does need convincing to participate. When he does speak he can do so bluntly. It's not often he can be talkative and he's more likely to hang back and just listen.

In Advent Children he is seen rescuing Cloud, Tseng, and Elena without invitation to where these characters are in the film. In Episode Nanaki Vincent intervenes Nanaki during another situation in which Vincent wasn't necessarily extended an invitation to. "Defeat Sephiroth... Defeat the son of that beloved woman... Am I on the verge of committing another sin...? Or am I atoning as best I can for only watching...?" โVincent Valentine, FFVII. I see Vincent as a character who keeps record of Gaia's (the world of FFVII) events, a historian. While he's afflicted with a great depressing guilt for lack of successions in his past, Vincent appears to be mostly nonparticipant in the world's affairs "atoning best I can for only watching.." I believe Vincent has a personal interest in Gaia's current events and committing them to memory as part of his "atonement." Vincent's involvement often follows the guide of external motivations; other characters pleading, asking, or convincing him to join their cause. It appears Vincent goes through a great deal of effort to keep the beasts tamed as evidenced through some of the game play in Dirge of Cerberus as well as in the movie Advent Children. In the film we don't see him transform even with facing against powerful enemies (boss battle!). I also believe Vincent maintains his control over the beasts by picking his battles carefully. Opening old wounds from the past can and will leave him vulnerable and more susceptible to transformation.

[ Vincent didn't have an invitation to the upper levels of the Security Station, but he was beckoned there nevertheless. He scaled the outside walls, flashes of red waved beside windowsills and to anyone looking out from the glass panel may have caught a glimpse of the movement. He wasn't intending to draw attention to himself, which was why he took to the concrete between the windows, but his cape was something of a free-spirit. It stretches out around him and peeks in through the windows as if the sight would qualm some curiosity of its own. Vincent was amorphous as he ascended the building quickly, like a plastic bag picked up quickly by a gust of wind and shot up the side of a wall.
He has yet chosen an expertise for himself and part of the reason he's currently exploring the building was to get a sense from this place, if any was to be had. What would it feel like to be here more than other places? Would he feel more aligned on these grounds versus the Power Plant tower? Or perhaps the familiarity of the Hangar in the Pink District would be more comfortable. Vincent still feels unsettled despite being here for over a week. This world was not his own and he felt out of place, uncomfortable, and even more so disturbed sharing the sentiment with the other compeers.
The air is clean, crisp, and cool. Vincent lingers on one of the edges of the tall tower and looks across from the side he's climbed up from. He then journeys the circumference of the tower and takes in the sweeping view of the city.
After panoramic view Vincent settles on the edge of the tower and pulls out the communicator. The knowledge of how to use this device wasn't there prior to the "download" into is consciousness the day he arrived and he still wonders if one day he'll forget how to function it, much like he'll forget one expertise for another should he choose to.
